Welcome, Alice Kallman – Adjunct Reference Librarian (Dissertation Office)

The Mina Rees Library is excited to formally introduce Alice Kallman, who has recently joined the Dissertation Office as an adjunct reference librarian.

Alice Kallman recently served as a Scholarly Communications Fellow with CUNY’s Office of Library Services, where she developed expertise in scholarly publishing services and open access. In the Dissertation Office, Alice will work closely with the Dissertation Research Librarian to review manuscripts and assist students with their dissertation, thesis, and capstone project deposits.

Alice was born and raised in New York. After attending the University of Chicago for her undergraduate degree, she worked for three years in New Orleans at a public defender’s office. While there, Alice thought a lot about access to information and decided to pursue a master’s degree in Library Science at Queens College. Over the course of her studies, she worked at the New York Public Library, and then with an oral history project at the Queens Public Library.

Alice also works part time at the Queens Public Library in the Correctional Outreach department doing reentry programming for individuals returning home from incarceration. When she is not riding the trains between these jobs, Alice enjoys building community through organizing, taking walks, and recommending books to friends!
