Spring Reserves Reminder (Already!)

I know–this semester is not even over, how could we possibly be thinking to the one ahead? Well, our acquisitions and circulation processes demand it!*

Reminders for Faculty:

The priority deadline for all Reserve Requests to be submitted is January 9, 2017 for the spring 2017 semester at the Graduate Center.

What is a priority deadline? If you complete the Reserve Request Form by January 9 (or before!), you are the most likely to have your materials ready for your students by the beginning of classes this semester.

  • This form should be used for all physical items (i.e. a book, DVD, VHS, CD, or score) that you would like placed on reserve. See our Reserves guide for instructions on sharing digital reserves in Blackboard.
  • Want to add something not already in our collections? Complete the form and we will do our best to get it for your class!–*the ordering, processing and cataloging procedures that are necessary to get these items onto the reserves shelves are what makes us force you to think about these requests so early (even in the semester before!). It’s never too early to submit a request, and you can send us items in batches–we will compile them for you.

Finding Assigned Course Materials:

Students can use OneSearch to find items from their class reading lists (if your professor has completed the form!).

Once on reserve, GC course reserve items can be checked out from the Reserve Desk on the library’s first floor. Most reserve items circulate for two hours, and some are available for up to three days per loan. See our guide for more information on locating course materials.

Also, don’t forget that you can borrow materials from your course lists from other CUNY libraries, as well as Interlibrary Loan!
