Welcome Visiting Scholar Anne Morel!

Anne MorelWe welcome Anne Morel, a visiting scholar at the Graduate Center Library February – April, 2016. Anne is in the midst of her course of study at ENSSIB, in Lyon, France. While librarians in the US obtain master’s degrees in library and/or information science, Anne will earn a French ‘library curator’ credential following her year and a half of study and on-the-job-training. Graduate Center librarians are thrilled that Anne sought us out for the on-the-job part of her library study.

Anne is interested in open access initiatives across the globe. While she is with us she will work on archiving GC digital collections in ArtStor’s Shared Shelf platform, a media management solution that enables institutions to upload, catalog, and share their digital collections. In addition, Anne will support select GC faculty in self-archiving their published scholarship into the open access repository GC Academic Works.

Anne has a license d’histoire option géographie (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in history and geography) from the Institut Catholique de Paris, and she has pursued graduate work at Paris IV La Sorbonne (history) and at Saint-Cloud Université Paris-Ouest Nanterre la Défense (book studies). She has worked at the Versailles Public Library, and the Versailles Castle, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and at the publishing house Bayard Editions. She is fluent in French, German and English.

Join us in welcoming Anne Morel!
