Getting to the Books: An Out of Service Elevator

IMG_1624The Elevator is Out of Service (again)!

The architecturally unique elevator in the center of the Graduate Center Library has been out of service for two weeks. Maintenance will likely follow through to the new year. This is quite a hassle for users, since all GC library books are located on the 2nd level of the library. In addition, computer classrooms are located on the C-Level. We are aware of the inconvenience of this malfunction. To get to the books, ask Security for access.

To get to the C-Level or 2nd floors, take the stairs that are in the center of the library. However, we imagine that for some, staircase use is not an option. If stairs are not an option for you, go back to the main area of the circulation desk and ask security to escort you to an elevator inside of the building.

Unfortunately, Security does not have the capacity to staff the elevator in the center of the 2nd floor. As a result, if you need to come downstairs, from the 2nd floor using an elevator, please use the reference desk phone (in front of the elevator) to call Security to escort you to an elevator on the 2nd floor.

*Note. If you take the main lobby elevator to the 2nd floor, it will stop, but the 2nd floor library doors will not open.
