Welcome CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies

SLU logo

The Graduate Center Mina Rees Library welcomes a new constituency: the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU). Formerly the Murphy Institute, founded in 1984, SLU offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs that focus on workers’ rights and representation, and the conditions of employment and unemployment around the world. CUNY faculty teaching in SLU share connections with the Graduate Center, and SLU community and employer partners are unions and professional associations that represent local workers and organizations concerned with labor and economic struggle outside the US.

SLU courses are held on two floors at 25 W. 43rd, walking distance from the Graduate Center’s midtown campus. SLU hosts a computer and research lab for SLU students, as well as IT services and administrative offices. Beginning in fall 2018, SLU students and faculty additionally enjoy full access onsite and offsite to the resources and services of the Graduate Center Mina Rees Library. Graduate Center librarians warmly welcome SLU students and faculty!
