New Longer CUNY Library Loan Period

You may have noticed the loan period for CUNY Library books has increased recently. In conjunction with the new CUNY/SUNY Resource Sharing partnership, loan periods for CUNY books have increased to 16 weeks. This also raised the maximum loan period to 48 weeks (about 11 months).

Library loans and requests can be managed and renewed by logging into your library account using a CUNYfirst login. Each renewal moves the due date back 16 weeks from the time of renewal.

Items will not be renewable if the maximum loan period is reached, if the item has been recalled, or if there are library blocks on your account. Avoid blocks and fines by managing your loans and communicating with the library. Once blocked, it must be resolved with the lending library.

We are always happy to advise and work with you, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The Graduate Center circulation staff can always be reached at circ@gc.cuny.edu and during operating hours at (212)817-7083.
