Welcome to the Mina Rees Library

Welcome to the Mina Rees Library! We’re excited to work with you, and we can be reached in a variety of ways. If you have a general or research question, email us at – library@gc.cuny.edu. We’re also available via live, 24/7 chat reference and one-on-one consultations.

A Network of Library Access

The Mina Rees Library offers access to hundreds of databases remotely and on-site, including Ebooks, scholarly articles, newspapers, archival resources, and more. We’re part of the larger CUNY system, comprised of 25 campuses across New York City – as you can see from this map, the library system extends across the city.

Be sure to also check out CUNY’s specialized libraries – including the Zabar Art Library at Hunter College, Architecture Library at City College, Dominican Institute Library, and Center for Worker Education Library. Please note that you may need to request a Guest Login for on-site access to Wifi and e-resources – and most importantly, there is no off-site access to the electronic resources of other CUNY Libraries, beyond this shared list of databases.

What if we don’t have…? Use Interlibrary Loan!

We also strongly encourage you to use our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to request any information resource. If we do not have what you need in our collections (or if it is checked out or otherwise unavailable), we have many partnerships and resource sharing networks, through which there is access to millions (literally, millions) of books, articles, and other content formats, from around the world. This is a fast and easy way to access information and greatly enhance your research possibilities – so, if you have any questions about ILL, please contact us and we will happily assist (ill@gc.cuny.edu).

Need study space? We’ve got you.

You’ll find quiet places to study — from desks to comfy chairs — and lots of natural light in the Mina Rees Library. Students can borrow laptops and iPads at our Circulation Desk on the first floor, and there are printers and scanners for your use on the second floor.

Please note: The Library is an intentionally quiet space, and Zoom calls are not permitted on site, except in the two study rooms on the 2nd Floor. (Check out the conference rooms you may reserve via the Doctoral and Graduate Students’ Council), or contact your Department for more options).

We’re looking forward to seeing you soon – at 365 Fifth Avenue, and at our virtual workshops and events. Have a terrific semester!
