Apply now! Open Pedagogy Fellowship – Spring 2021

Open Pedagogy Fellowship – Apply by 2/15/21 at 5:00pm EST

The Library seeks applications for Open Pedagogy Fellows for Spring 2021, each carrying a $2000 stipend.

What is the Open Pedagogy Fellowship?

The Fellowship experience will provide interactive training about how to find openly licensed resources to use in the courses you teach, no matter your field. Open materials can include lab manuals, Open Access journal articles, Creative Commons-licensed works, and many other types of content. We’ll discuss:

  • Economics of scholarly publishing
  • Benefits of open access for students, researchers, and authors, as well as some discipline-specific obstacles to achieving open access
  • How to identify open access, open educational resources, and other forms of “open”
  • How to bring critical/open pedagogy into your teaching practices.

Fundamentally, this is an opportunity to consider how knowledge is created and produced, and for whom. By the end, you’ll have a syllabus that’s zero-cost for your students and, just as importantly, ideas for strategies to center their needs, experiences, and voices.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

This Fellowship is for Graduate Center master’s or doctoral students who will be teaching at CUNY in Fall 2021. Preference will be given to those who will be able to teach in Fall 2021 using the OER / zero-cost syllabus they create, but all Graduate Center master’s or doctoral students who are teaching at CUNY will be considered. Applicants must be fully enrolled for Spring 2021 to receive the stipend [Full enrollment for doctoral students is 7 credits or weighed instructions units (WIUs); for MA students, 9 credits].
