The Graduate Center Library is delighted to introduce our new adjunct reference librarian, Kai Alexis Smith. Kai will be working on a variety of projects, but library patrons will know her primarily as the friendly face at the reference desk most evenings. She’s highly competent and full of ideas, so let her know if you need help with anything library-related.
Kai recently received her Master of Science in Information and Library Science from the Pratt Institute, where she also received her BFA in Writing for Publication, Performance, and Media. She has also completed some graduate courses in art history at Pratt, and she hopes to resume work toward her second master’s degree in the near future.
Kai’s previous library experience includes several positions at the Pequot Library in Southport, CT; a fellowship at University of Michigan’s Fine Arts Library and Art, Architecture & Engineering Library; and internships at the National Gallery of Art, Columbia, Barnard, the Whitney Museum, and the American Museum of Natural History. We’re thrilled that the Graduate Center gets to be the next institution on that very impressive list!
Kai comes highly recommended for her energy, ideas, problem-solving tendencies, and go-getter attitude. So, if you’re not sure how to start your library research or encounter problems once you’ve started, go talk to Kai — whatever your library issue is, she’ll help you tackle it!
