A Day in the Library (behind the scenes) – Research Tour at Schwarzman
Tuesday, October 7, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
A Day in the Library (Behind the Scenes) will allow students a hands-on tour of the Manuscripts & Archives Division, Special Collections, and the reading rooms in the NYPL Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. Graduate Center students, staff, faculty, and their guests are invited to meet NYPL curators, for an evening tour of the Library. Enter on the 42nd street, and enjoy the Library’s public and behind-the-scenes spaces on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. Curators will display collection highlights and demonstrate NYPL databases supporting in-depth research in the humanities.
Thomas Lannon, Curator of Manuscripts & Archives, Rebecca Federman, Electronic Resources Librarian, Carolyn Broomhead, Research Community Manager, and other NYPL curators will be your hosts and guides.
The New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, at Fifth Avenue & 42nd Street, is the research library serving the CUNY Graduate Center humanities and social sciences. It features rich collections of archives and manuscripts, rare books, prints, photographs, and rare periodicals. NYPL special collections support in-depth research in history, literature, and fine arts. NYPL databases and electronic resources supplement the GC Library’s resources, offering several important historical and literary collections unavailable in CUNY libraries.
