Reserve Study Space at the Mina Rees Library

Welcome back! Starting June 7th, you may reserve on-site study space in the Mina Rees Library.

When is the Library open for space reservations?

Study space is available Monday-Thursday from 9am to 5pm. Once you’ve made a reservation, you may enter anytime between 9am-5pm on that date. The Library is open to current Graduate Center & SLU students as well as CUNY Faculty for quiet study.

– Reservations must be made in advance of arrival by 4pm the previous day.

– Bring your confirmation email and a Graduate Center ID, SLU ID, CUNY Faculty ID or a valid government-issued photo ID to enter the building.

Computers and printing are unavailable at this time, as per IT Services. We would suggest bringing your own laptop or device for Wifi use.

How do I reserve space?

Go to the reservation form and click “Next Available” to see upcoming dates.  Find an available (green) slot for the date you would like to reserve. Scroll to the bottom and click “Submit times.” Enter your GC or SLU email address (CUNY Faculty may enter their campus email address). You will receive a confirmation email, which you will need to enter the building.

Process to Check In

Once you are at the building, stop at the Security desk in the main Lobby. You will need to follow the building entry policies outlined here. Show the confirmation email and your ID to Security.

What safety guidelines are in place?

– Masks (covering nose and mouth) are required, as well as 6-foot social distancing

– No food/drink is permitted in the space

– Hand sanitizer and alcohol wipes are available near workstations

Which services are available in the Library?

Library services remain available online only. Books may not be checked out. Interlibrary Loan is not circulating print materials. Research appointments are held via Zoom. The Mina Rees Library plans to restore on-site services starting on Monday August 16th, 2021.

What if I only need to return books to the Library?

You may return books during normal business hours at the book drop by the Security desk in the main Lobby (including books checked out from the Graduate Center or CUNY Libraries). If you have more than 20 books to return, please email Circulation (circ@gc.cuny.edu). All fines are waived from CUNY Libraries at this time.
