Due and Don’t (Due Date Notice? Don’t Worry)

Have you gotten an email lately about the upcoming due date on a GC book you checked out in February? Or a John Jay book, or a Brooklyn College book, or some other CUNY’s book? But you were sure that we’d told you that books were renewing automatically!

Even more mysteriously, the email address the notice came from may have been the spammy-sounding “Your.Department@organization.com.” What are you supposed to do?

We can assure you that the answer is, Nothing. Regular book loans from CUNY libraries continue to be renewed for you.

We have recently completed a major back-end overhaul of the entire CUNY catalog system, and while it’s gone remarkably smoothly, there are inevitably a few wrinkles. One of them is that the system is sending due date notices for books, even though they’re being renewed on our end as long as the libraries remain physically closed.

The upshot is, you do not need to take any action. All the CUNY libraries continue to renew regular loans without your needing to do anything.
