Online for April: Workshops

The world has become very different in the last few weeks. It promises to be different for quite a while to come. But teaching and writing continues, and the library is still doing business — lots of business. In addition to the online services we’re able to offer, we will be offering more library workshops online in the month of April.

What to Know Before You Submit to a Journal, or Sign Its Contract (online)

When you publish a journal article, you sign a copyright agreement. Do you know what you’re agreeing to when you sign it?

How can you find out a journal’s copyright policy? How can you negotiate your contract to make the most of your rights as a scholar, researcher, and author? Come learn how to preserve your rights to reproduce, distribute, and display the work you create.

This workshop will be offered as a webinar on WebEx. Register here.

Finding E-book Access in a Shifting World

You can’t go to the library. That chapter you were planning to scan, the reserve book you won’t be able to look at–are those materials out of your reach entirely? Maybe not. Journals, academic publishers, even some mainstream corporate publishers are relaxing their access, expanding e-book offerings, in some cases opening their resources completely. This is especially true for material that’s directly related to COVID-19, but there’s more available than epidemiology and biochem.

How do I find out who’s offering what? Where is my book, if my book is there at all? We’ve been putting together resources and techniques for finding the materials you need and can’t touch, and we’ll share those secrets in an online workshop.

This workshop will be offered as a webinar. Registration details coming soon.
