Toasting Parthenon Casts & Finding Alternative Study Space

On Tuesday, October 24, the Graduate Center will be marking the recent installation of the casts of the Parthenon frieze with an all-day symposium, Casting the Curriculum: The Parthenon Marbles, Plaster Casts, and Public Sculpture. The symposium will be followed by a celebration in the library from 5:00 to 6:30pm, which the full Graduate Center community is welcome to attend. The celebration will take place on the library’s 1st floor, in and around the Dissertation Reading Room. Students who are displaced by the celebration or the preparations for it (which will begin around 3pm) may find suitable alternative study space on the library’s concourse level or 2nd floor. If the library’s other floors do not provide sufficient quiet study space, students may use the Provost’s Conference Room on the 8th floor, which has been specially reserved as a quiet study space during this time.
