Call for Participants – The Graduate Center Library Visual Display Program

Current Visual Display Awardee: The Louis Armstrong House Museum Writers-in-Residence Program

The Graduate Center Library invites you to submit an exhibition proposal for our Visual Display Program, which features materials of various kinds in the display panels on the first floor of the library.  The program mounts exhibitions that include visual, textual, and archival materials that represent the diversity of our university, our community partners, and our city.

We seek to collaborate with individuals and institutions that will enrich the library environment and introduce our students and faculty to research initiatives of interest. Our goal is to work with people and organizations that can bring their unique flair to the library and provide a visually pleasing focal point for visitors. In turn, it is our hope to expose participants’ work to a wider audience.

We hope that you will apply to share your material inside our display cases.

The required elements for participation are:

  • 8 – 20 items to fill the vertical display cases
  • 100 – 300 words describing the exhibition
  • < 50 word description per item (when necessary)
  • Transportation for items to the Graduate Center

The Graduate Center will offer as a result of participation:

  • Semester-long open exhibition space
  • Mounting assistance and coordination
  • Public event or workshop in relation to the exhibition
  • Coverage on the Graduate Center Library Blog
  • Social media attention via the GC Library’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, curated by the GC Digital Outreach Librarian
  • $250 monetary award for the recipient or, in the case of a group exhibition, to be split among the recipients

Please email Wanett Clyde, Adjunct Reference and Digital Outreach Librarian, your proposals –  wclyde@gc.cuny.edu.
