Stay Connected! New Alumni Library Resources

The Graduate Center Mina Rees Library is pleased to offer GC alumni a suite of online resources – including JSTOR, Project MUSE, SAGE publications, Vault Career Intelligence, and Versatile PhD – available off-campus, anytime. JSTOR alone typically costs an individual subscriber $200 per year for limited access to its Arts and Sciences I-XII suite. But the GC Library, teaming with the Office of Career Planning and Professional Development, offers several journal collections and career resources to GC alums, all at no charge. To reach alumni library resources, register for an alumni user ID and password with the GC Alumni Office.

CUNY Academic Works Sticker full sizeIn the online registration form, alumni can also choose to make dissertations publicly accessible on CUNY Academic Works. Making a dissertation publicly accessible could lead to hundreds, or even thousands, of downloads authors can track. Making a dissertation freely accessible positions it in global conversation and supports CUNY’s mission to serve the public good. Dissertation authors retain all copyright; alumni can publish graduate work anytime with any publisher.

Remember that graduates also enjoy lifetime on-campus access to the full set of Graduate Center Library databases (and books!) with a GC alumni photo ID. Contact GCAlumni@gc.cuny.edu with any questions about your alumni user ID or your alumni photo ID.

Of course we would be delighted to receive donations to support the GC Library and these new alumni services, but alumni are under no obligation to contribute. Visit www.gc.cuny.edu/donate or call 212-817-7130.
