Welcome Adriana Palmer, ER-IR Librarian!

20150916_095801_-_Copy__2__-_CopyYou may have already met Adriana Palmer. She has worked at the GC as an adjunct librarian since 2014. But now we are additionally thrilled that Adriana Palmer joins our team as a full time librarian!

Adriana’s new job combines two areas of responsibility. First, the ‘ER’ part: Adriana will coordinate the library’s electronic resources collections. She’ll be the librarian in charge of maintaining resources on the library’s A-Z list, troubleshooting them when users have problems, tracking statistics, and letting the GC community know about what we have. Adriana will work closely with the Associate Librarian for Collections to manage the acquisition, licensing, and maintenance of electronic resources — all that we acquire in partnership with CUNY, with NYPL, with other consortia, and on our own.

Second, the ‘IR’ part: Adriana will manage the GC part of CUNY Academic Works open access repository with contents including self-submitted faculty and graduate student works, working papers, campus publications, dissertations, theses, and capstone projects. Working closely with the Associate Librarian for Public Services and Scholarly Communication, Adriana will determine best practices, assist submitters to the repository, review and approve submissions, keep stats on its growth, and train other library staff who work with it. And, like nearly all the GC librarians, Adriana will participate in reference and instruction.

Prior to joining us Adriana worked at the New York Audubon Society in a variety of capacities, and before that she worked at a company called BrainScope, managing data and databases. Adriana earned her BS in Cognitive Neuroscience from Brown University in 2005 and her MLS from CUNY Queens College in 2011. She plans to enter the Grad Center’s MALS program to pursue a 2nd master’s this year.
