New York Public and GC Libraries

nypl The New York Public Library, with its many branches and research centers (including the Science, Industry & Business Library located in our building and the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, just down the block) is and has always been, both philosophically and physically, in close alignment with the work and values of the Graduate Center.

NYPL librarians have long collaborated with GC librarians to help the GC community make use of the rich NYPL collections and databases.

NYPL also offers special borrowing privileges to all GC students and faculty, and they facilitate our participation in the MarLi program with NYU and Columbia.

We have most recently set up direct delivery of interlibrary loan books between NYPL and the GC. The loan period of interlibrary loan books from NYPL has also increased: it is now 70 days, up from 30 days.

So, request the books you need via interlibrary loan, and if we can find it at NYPL, you will get the book quicker, and for a longer loan period, than in the past.

For more information about special NYPL privileges and MaRLI, see our NYPL & MaRLI guide.
