New ILL Policy: Request Any Print Book (Even Those Available at Other CUNY Libraries)

thebookFor many years, the CUNY community has been able to request that print books owned by one CUNY library be delivered to another, more convenient library location. This service, sometimes called CLICS, is still possible through the shared CUNY catalog. It is also now possible through the new OneSearch database. (E-books are only available to Graduate Center library users if CUNY or Graduate Center copies are listed in the catalog.)

In addition, however, the Graduate Center community can now request any print book — including titles owned by other CUNY libraries — through interlibrary loan. (We used to cancel these requests and ask that you request them through the CUNY catalog…but we will not do that anymore!)

We hope that this change will reduce confusion among those of you who are accustomed to using ILL, and that we will be able to get you the items you need more quickly and easily.

CLICS or ILL: The choice is yours!

(Note: This is a Graduate Center Library policy and applies only to requests made through the GC’s ILL service. If you use another CUNY library’s ILL service, requests for books available at CUNY will likely be canceled, and you will be directed to request the book through CLICS instead.)
