Free Earplugs in the Library

The Graduate Center Library is, for the most part, a very quiet place, and we’ve designated two areas (the Dissertation Reading Room on the 1st floor and the northeast corner of the 2nd floor) as special quiet zones. However, some researchers want more than quiet — they seek silence. The library welcomes and helps hundreds of people every day and therefore can’t (and shouldn’t) be a truly silent space, but we’re now offering something that can help make your head a truly silent space: free earplugs!

The earplugs are available in wire bins at the Circulation Desk and Reference Desk. Each pair is individually wrapped, which keeps them clean until first use, and connected by a blue cord, which will help you keep track of them. Take a pair next time you walk by one of the desks, and let us know what you think.

In the words of Depeche Mode, enjoy the silence!
